Unfortunately partnered with Embrace in the dance of the Bright Young Things, Travis could seem like another bunch of chancers filching moves from Rock Circus. Happily, their tender debut shows that under the boozy bravado of single "All I Wanna Do Is Rock" lies a band who know great music means reading between the lines, not just chopping them out. Like all rock contenders in these post-Oasis days, they have an eye for an anthem, but their delicate detail and the brainstorming twists--the chorus pile of "U16 Girls," the delirious fade-out of "The Line Is Fine," Fran Healy's voice combining Lennon's righteously salted wounds with Thom Yorke's vulnerability--display a warmth and excitement that comes from real creative delight.

Occasionally meandering, occasionally spectacular, always endearing, Good Feeling could prove to be their Pablo Honey. It's a cheering thought.

This review was tucked away alongside the rest of the usual mish-mash. I had to look a little harder for it. Stereolab, Finley Quaye, Robbie Williams--they all got big headlining slots and big piccies. Wibble.
