Still, Good Feeling sounds a lot more American than British, apart from
the striking resemblance between Fran Healy's and Thom Yorke's swelling vocals
which causes the shamelessly emotional ballads to remind us of Radiohead.
Stylistically Travis shows an unmistakable identity of its own, if only by
interchanging the solemn pieces with sometimes bordering on glamrock stompers.
Produced by the these days not very active Steve Lillywhite, Good Feeling
has a somewhat forced opening, but halfways this overall compelling album
reaches unnoticed a pretty impressive level.
The Dutch Travis: The title of their album is Wicki Purrs, and they are
also suing the Brilliant Travis regarding the name. No verdict as of yet.
Oor
Coincidence does exist, for how else is it possible that there are two bands
called Travis, that in the very same week release their debut album. The
Scottish quartet will no doubt get most tongues wagging, because no one less
than Noel Gallagher blew their trumpet. (What is it with all this Noel
Gallagher branding?--Addy)
