Having a good time?
I'm having a great time. When we went up to get our award, I had a million things I wanted to say, and I said a wee bit of all of it. The thing with Keith Richards was, five or six years ago, we met this producer Niko Bolas who was telling us stories about Keith and about how whenever he did something amazing, he'd always say, It's the angels. So what I was gonna say was, This is for the angels. But I totally went off on one.
Met anyone cool?
Adam and Joe. I got this lovely Vinyl Justice CD badge, which scarily enough is a RuPaul Supermodel of the World CD. Damon was lovely talking about his wee baby. And I shook hands with Ian Dury.
Had a good year?
We've had a fantastic year. When the album want to Number one, we were in Stafford--where I was born--doing V99. It was fantastic getting Best Single for "Why Does It Always Rain on Me?," and not to diss what we've done, but I thought it maybe should've been "No Scrubs." But we're all coming from the same place. These songs float about, and somebody just catches them in a butterfly net.
Are you a millionaire yet?
I've no idea. Probably, aye. It's funny, last Christmas, my mum got me this book about the birth of man and art going back to the caveman days. In the front, she wrote, To the man who sold a million in 1999. I'm really superstitious, and when I read that, I was like, Aw mum, don't fucking tempt fate, man! Yet here we are, eleven months later, 40,000 off selling a million. It brings a whole new meaning to the phrase Mum's the word.
