The Man Who Met

The Man in question recounts: I went to Nashville's Riverstages festival to see Travis, and they were scheduled to sign autographs at a store's booth set up there. However, something went wrong with the equipment and Travis went on 40 minutes late. So when i got to that store's booth, they said Travis would not be signing. I was so disappointed! I just needed Fran and Neil's autographs (I got the other two a couple of weeks earlier at a concert in Indianapolis while waiting for Noel Gallagher, who I also met!). I had seen Fran in Indy, but he was in a hurry to get to sound check.

So anyway, my girlfriend and I left the festival and I was bummed cause I wasn't going to get the autograph. So we hit a couple of local stores then walked back to where I parked. On the way, I noticed these two big buses! I couldn't believe it. I stopped and said "Holy sh*t!" My girlfriend was really confused to say the least. Then I walked to the second bus and saw the little british flag liscense plate they'd taped up in the front window and I almost screamed. I told my girlfriend that it was Their bus! I turned and saw Dougie talking on a cellular and saw this little girl standing by the bus. I didn't know if she was with them so I walked up... turns out she was just a fan waiting for Dougie's signature. She asked if I was waiting for Dougie. I told her I was actually trying to meet Fran... then she said "Oh he was right... oh, there he is". He came up behind me and I handed him my cd (of The Man Who) and asked him to sign. He was so friendly! I explained how I saw him in Indy but wasn't able to get the autograph. After he signed, he leaned in the bus and yelled at Neil to come sign my cd (so I'd have all 4 of their signatures). I also had Fran sign a magazine with thier picture on the cover (Pulse). It was great! I told him to enjoy the rest of the stay in America. I also asked what was the deal with them going on late.. he just said, "Too many chiefs, not enough indians!" Then when my girlfriend and I turned to leave, he stopped us and shook hands with each of us and wished us luck.

The best thing is that there was no one else there at all, except that girl. People were walking down the other side of the street and didn't know who he was. On the way home I told my girlfriend that there's probably a lot of British people who would be very jealous of her for getting to meet him. Kinda sucks sometimes being stuck in America when all your favorite bands are in England, but then, when they come over here it's probably easier to meet them! Cheers!
