Jen's journey: Thank god there is another human being on this planet who has been whacked
repeatedly over the head with a big club-type-thing and has been forced to
succumb to the power that is... Travis.
I first heard Travis when I saw them supporting the Longpigs at the
Northampton Roadmender in February last year. I remember thinking, 'Blimey, I hope they're good because they're supporting Mansun and I'm going to see them too in a couple of weeks'. I was not disappointed. Hurrah! I was very impressed by Travis, as was my mate Cheesy, and so after that we became the only two known people in history (well, Southam) to know who Travis
were and to appreciate them. I was really surprised because you don't normally take any notice of support bands, but something made me listen, and after that I couldn't get U16 Girls or Hazy Shades of Gold out of my head, for some reason.
After the Mansun gig, where they once again made the crowd go absolutely
insane, I decided I wanted to know a bit more about the band an so I sent off that promotional card type thing that someone gives you at the start of gigs and that usually end up all folded and manky.
Hence, my obsession was born, and since then, me and Cheesy boy have been to see Travis again, this time in December, and we have built up a good
collection of Travis singles, even being as sad as to buy both CD1 and CD2 to satisfy our insane lust for Travis stuff.
Oh, yeah, and I'm also in the album - I'm the one near the top staple (hence my new nickname 'staplehead') and I have to say it is the worst photo and I'm gutted that everyone can see it.
