27 December 2000: There's a 97-X Modern Rock Auction for Charity going on at the moment and 100% of the profits will be going to charity. One of the items up for grabs is a signed poster and CD from Travis (well, yeah, we're not altruistic to the point of irrelevance) There's some other stuff up for auction too. So, to own a piece of your favourite person (so to speak), visit http://www.woxy.com and do your bit to help little hungry children who can't afford musical instruments.

1 November 2000: Vote your conscience! You have a chance to make a difference (really!). Travis is up for some awards for which fans can vote:

  • My VH1 Music Awards: Travis has been nominated for the Best U.K. Act
  • MTV Europe Music Awards: all but two of the categories are decided by the fans; Travis has been nominated in the Best Group and Best Album categories
  • VH1 Storytellers petition: this isn't an award, but you can sign the petition and let the people at VH1 know that we'd like to see the show too (I think this applies only to the United States right now, so sorry all you international playboys)
Also, if you're from the States and are older than 18, please remember to vote next Tuesday (November 7). It's your future too!

18 October 2000: Hey kids, House of Blues is rebroadcasting the Webcast of the Las Vegas show on October 26, and there's a new e-postcard with photos from that same gig. More info here.

And a belated but very heartfelt congrats to Fran and Nora on their engagement. We have an asparagus steamer waiting for the future Mr. and Mrs. Fran Healy.

1 October 2000: House of Blues will be cybercasting Travis's gig in Las Vegas. Here's a full list of Travis online goodies:

28 August 2000: So maybe we American fans can't complain as much this year, even though we won't get to see the band do VH-1's Storytellers. Here's a little report about a certain cover song (stolen from allstar news):

Travis's '...Baby One More Time' Due Sept. 5 In The U.S.

Aug 25, 2000, 12:20 pm PT

Epic Records will be releasing a double A-side single of Travis's "Turn" and "Why Does It Always Rain on Me?" with a very special bonus track.

The band's beloved cover of Britney Spears' "...Baby One More Time," previously only available as a live version on the band's import-only CD single for "Turn," will be included on the U.K.-style CD single.

Previously, the only recorded version of the song was from Mark Radcliffe's BBC Radio One show. A new version, however, was laid to tape from the band's VH1 Storytellers appearance, expected to air on VH1 in the U.K. in early September. The song includes a 90-second intro by Travis singer Fran Healy, explaining the band's decision to cover the teen pop song.

American fans have been thrilled with the cover, as evidenced by its reception during live shows through the band's relentless touring of the States in recent months. The special double A-side single hits stores on Sept. 5.

28 July 2000: Still haven't saved up for tickets to any festivals yet? Try Clickmusic. They're running a competition till next week to win tickets to V2000 and Witnness, which Travis are playing at.

22 July 2000: We now have five winners for the contest, and they will be hearing from me soon. Thanks to all of you who participated.

19 July 2000: I'm pretty bummed out because I just found out that another Travis site has stolen the code for the articles (and some pictures) that we started typing up all those years ago and just posted them on their own site without even a nod to us. And the site doesn't even have an email link so that I can complain to the so-called Webmaster. Of course, I think the articles on our site looks better, but it's like a kick in the guts to know that your hard work is being credited to someone else. The fucker knows who s/he is. Anyway, onto the news:

You know how some bands have a way of falling under the radar? Well, there's this group called the Clint Boon Experience, whom some of you may have had the opportunity to check out when they were opening for Travis. They have a new single called "Do What You Do (Earworm Song)" featuring a collaboration with Fran coming out next week; I'll let their press release do the rest of the talking:

The new single from the Clint Boon Experience includes a duet between Clint Boon and Fran Healy from Travis. The two met when the Clint Boon Experience supported Travis on their sell-out UK tour in December. Recently, Travis joined the CBX onstage during a sell out gig at London's LA2. Subsequently, Fran insisted on singing with Clint on the alternative version of the single.

The video and interactive Shockwave Flash eye candy are available on the website.

Also, in conjunction with the CBX crew, we're giving away free copies of the single signed by the band to the first five people who answer this question correctly:

Who is the roadie for Clint Boon's previous band who later went on to fame and fortune with his own insanely popular band?
Answers to me by July 27. (The contest is now over.)

And you too can be in on the action without waiting for our updates. Join the list, won't you? We'd be ever so pleased.
