8 Dec. 1998: OH MY GOD! Actual Travis news to report! Taken from the mailing list
(thanks to Pauline for the info!):
TRAVIS: THE WRITING STUFF
TRAVIS have a new single called 'Writing To Reach You' set for a late January 1999 release. The band have played the song live during their summer festival appearances at T In The Park and Reading.
It was produced by Nigel Godrich (OK Computer), who is also working on the band's second album, the follow up to 1997's acclaimed Good Feeling. The band are still in the studio working on the as-yet untitled record. No release date has been set, though a spokesman for the band said that they expected it would be in the first half of next year.
Click back for news about the Travis web site, which will be launched soon.
So there you have it. Also, a little birdie tells us that the official Travis site will eventually live at
www.travisonline.com.
2 Sept. 1998: CyberSleaze has a little notice about the brilliance that is Travis (why she
didn't mention anything a full year ago, when their LP was released and they toured the United
States, is a mystery to us):

SPEAKING OF RANDOM BRITISH SHIT: In case you did not know, there are currently three
brilliant bands from the British Isles making gorgeous, beautiful music like NOEL GALLAGHER
used to and of course nobody gives two fucks over here, but you SHOULD because you read
CyberSleaze and you obviously have some taste. Anyway, so the bands of which I speak are
EMBRACE and their brilliant debut album THE GOOD WILL OUT on GEFFEN, ARNOLD and
their excellent second album HILLSIDE on CREATION/SONY and the abso-fucking-lutely
genius (Scottish no less!!) boys from TRAVIS and their album GOOD FEELING on EPIC. All three of these albums
kick most of the indie tripe on bad American rock radio's butt.
Embrace writes those epic songs a la CHAMPAGNE SUPERNOVA that OASIS used to have the patent on while ARNOLD are a bit more introspective but equally good songwriters. But, my special Diva love is reserved for the boys from Travis. The songwriting on this album is just so genius and this guy's voice is so expressive I actually find myself tearing up almost every time I hear certain songs on the album (yes, I know I am a total sap...). And--on the love tip from me to
you--the second half of the Travis album is spectacular make-out music. Even tops PRIMAL SCREAM's SCREAMADELICA. And for those of you who know how much I adore that album and Primal Scream in general, you will know that for me to say that means A LOT. Trust me, I have done plenty of lab testing on this one.
Also, Uyen is taking reservations from anyone who wants to join her for next year's Reading
Festival. You have 365 days or so to save your pennies. Contact her through Addy.
4 June 1998: Travis have just been confirmed as headliners for this year's Bude Rock festival in Bude, Cornwall. The festival takes place on 3rd-4th July, and other acts playing include Space, Catatonia, 60ft Dolls, Carrie & Ether. Tickets are £35 for the weekend, camping included. All three festivals announced so far are held in the UK, by the way.
19 May 1998: Travis are headlining the Melody Maker Stage on 29 August. That's a Saturday. Boo hoo (for me). Brilliant for anyone who's going to Reading. Everyone else recite after me: "Life is so unfair. Life is..."
10 May 1998: Travis are (probably) playing Reading 98, which is held in Reading. Thereabouts. It hasn't been confirmed which day they will be playing. Tickets are £75 for the weekend (I think it's 3 days) or £30 for a day ticket. For a bigger list of the line-up, try NME.com
22 April 1998: Festivals ahoy! Travis have been confirmed for Phoenix 98. They're playing the Phoenix Stage on Saturday. Phoenix, btw, is from 16th to 19th July and is held in Long Marston Air Field, near Stratford-Upon-Avon, Warwickshire. Weekend tickets £75 (incl. camping & car parking) Day ticket £27.50
30 March 1998: Travis released a restrung version of "More Than Us" today. (I have to admit that I'm not actually typing this on March 30th.) It's
brilliant and lends itself to much melodrama (I know, I tried). There's a CD1,
which includes "All I Wanna Do Is Rock" live with Noel Gallagher on guitar
(oh my! who he?) "Give Me Some Truth," a cover of a John Lennon song (also
done as a b-side by Ash, incidentally) and a remixed version of "Funny Thing"
(and as the mix has not been titled the 'rock your socks' mix or something
equally silly, I'm presuming it still remains its dignity). There's also a CD2,
which includes "Reason," a demo of a new song, "More Than Us"
acoustic on Italian radio and "Beautiful Bird." PLUS! 3 postcards of
chairs and 1 of Travis!
Travis are also going on a four-date Evening Session tour, joint-headlining
with Catatonia, and Idlewild as support.
